On June 26, Timothy Kendall, the Australian Consul General in Guangzhou, along with Vice Consul General Liam Mulvey and their delegation, visited Fujian Normal University. President Wang Changping warmly welcomed the guests, accompanied by representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Fujian-Taiwan Regional Research Center.

Wang Changping, on behalf of the university, expressed his delight at the visit of Timothy Kendall and his delegation. He provided a brief overview of the university’s international cooperation in education, emphasizing the long-standing history of exchanges between China and Australia. He noted that the university has established long-term and stable partnerships with many Australian universities, resulting in significant achievements in academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation, and mutual visits of faculty and students. He hoped that this visit would serve as an opportunity to deepen cooperation, expand exchange programs between faculty and students in Chinese and Australian universities, and enhance interaction and understanding between the youth of both countries.

Timothy Kendall commended the university’s achievements in international education and its positive contributions to Sino-Australian cultural exchanges. He provided a brief introduction to higher education in Australia and expressed his willingness to promote the establishment of friendly cooperative partnerships between Fujian Normal University and more Australian universities. This, he said, would support more stable, deeper, and more practical cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research between Chinese and Australian universities.

Subsequently, the head of the Fujian-Taiwan Regional Research Center introduced innovative measures taken by Fujian in cross-strait integration and development, as well as the university’s achievements in cross-strait cultural and educational exchanges.

Finally, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on educational cooperation between Fujian Normal University and Australia, as well as other countries in Oceania.
